This week we create small create study sheets of the aromatic flavourings used in Gin. These are known as ‘botanicals’ and may include juniper, coriander, angelica root, citrus peel, cinnamon, rosemary, lavender, cardamom, cumin, and fennel. The tuition will include guidance on creating compositions based on small ‘collections’ . These skills can then be used on other collections you may like to tackle at home such as nuts, seedpods, leaves etc.

During the week there will be an opportunity to compare the flavours of the ‘botanical’ in a comparative gin tasting.

Day 1 usually starts with a short slideshow to give inspiration. The tuition is a mixture of group discussion, demonstration and individual guidance. My aim is that everyone enjoys learning, and trying out new skills in a friendly, non-competitive environment. One of the hallmarks of these holidays is how generously the artists support each other.

Free time
After class you are free to sunbathe, swim, walk, work on in the studio, or simply relax until dinner.

Painters are welcome to be accompanied by non-painting friends or partners. The idyllic but rather secluded nature of il Collaccio is best suited to those who enjoy walking, swimming or relaxing with a book. To explore further you would need to arrive with a hire car.

A bonus for those booking two consecutive weeks
Many people (especially when travelling long-haul) like to book for two weeks. You will receive FREE accommodation for the linking days between courses. On these changeover days when guests are arriving or departing there is no tuition so you are free to relax or explore on your own.

How to Book

Contact me with full details.
I will confirm that a provisional place is being held for you. You will then be contacted by the hotel requesting your deposit payment. Upon payment your place will be confirmed.
Accommodation is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis determined by the date at which the booking deposit is received. Those rooms which have balconies and/or valley views are popular and we encourage you to book early to secure one. The nine first floor rooms require climbing a short flight of stairs. There are two ground floor rooms one of which is equipped with a wet-room style bathroom, please indicate when booking if you would like this facility.
Studio spaces are allocated via a numbered draw which takes place each week at the ‘welcome meeting’ on the first evening before dinner.
Cancellations must be advised in writing. Please email the the office at Il Collaccio as soon as possible.

Your deposit paid is not refundable.
If you cancel more than 10 weeks from the start date of the course, we will endeavour to find a replacement booking. If we are successful then your balance would be refunded.
