Travel & Transfers Info

Arrivals from the UK or Europe by air

Flights on both scheduled and low-cost airlines are readily available from many places to Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI). The Spanish carrier Air Europa and German carrier Air Berlin use Palma Airport as their main base.

Arrivals from the USA or other long-haul destinations
The nearest airport is Palma de Mallorca (PMI). It the third largest airport in Spain. You may need to connect via Madrid or Barcelona.

Our love affair with Sóller

Our 2020 holiday is based again in the charming town of Sóller in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, near the north west coast of Mallorca,

Walk through the valley of orange groves surrounding the town, or catch the 1912 wooden tram down to the beach.

Transfers are easy 30 mins by taxi from the airport.

Our accommodation

Following the success of our 2019 trip we shall return to the family-run boutique hotel El Guia. Quietly tucked away In the centre of Sóller town, it is a short slow stroll to our studio and just off the main square for people watching, shopping and local ice cream.

Hotel El Guia has modern facilities but old-world Mallorcan ambience and is noted for its service and authentic cuisine.

The Studio

Every weekday we will paint in a spacious studio with high ceilings and good light. Located on the first floor of the Municipal library, this is a short walk from the hotel.

The studio is accessible via lift and has washrooms close by. As is the custom in Spain the building closes over the lunch period so our tuition will be punctuated by a long break 1-4pm when students are free to take a leisurely lunch, explore or rest.

Arrive at Hotel El Guia during the day on 1st May in time to settle in before drinks and dinner at 7pm.

Saturday will be spent at the Sóller Botanic Garden for drawing and photography. Small but perfectly formed in 1992, with flora, vegetables, fruit trees and medicinal plants of the Balearics and other Mediterranean Isles, including Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta and Crete. Watch their video (in Spanish)

On Sunday we shall visit another garden (TBC).

Monday - Friday will be studio based with two tutored sessions 10-1pm and 4-6pm
The course ends with breakfast on Saturday 9th May. Guests must vacate rooms and check out before 11am.
