Zoomschools

What is a Zoomschool?

My 'Zoomschool' teaching platform was launched in 2020 but is continually developed. It has been very well received and students say it is the most lively and enganging way to study botanical art via Zoom.

In between sessions a 'virtual pinboard' app (free to download) allows you to post questions, upload work in progress/get my feedback, access further resources and exchange comments with your fellow students. Much more collaborative than most zoom-based teaching.

Demo videos and other resources may be accessed for a month after the class ends.

Over the years I have taught several short courses on leaves but this shall be the most comprehensive.

Elaine's class on Textures was a treasure. The class size was small and the use of padlet allowed students to share work and share Elaine's helpful, and always encouraging, comments. Her videos demonstrated techniques, and serial photo of her works on progress were extremely helpful. Questions were welcome in class and on the padlet. I have signed up for the next two classes..

Elaine’s ZoomSchool has been a great experience. I have taken two courses so far and have learned a great deal in each one. The unique quality of Elaine’s courses combines the benefits of live teaching sessions with remote, solitary work time, integrated together into a common “digital workspace/studio.” Elaine is an excellent teacher … giving helpful, thoughtful guidance and advice, based on years of experience both as a teacher and exceptional artist. I hope to take more courses in the future.

I learned so much in this short course on textures. Elaine shows her students the correct techniques, encourages us to post our work if we want to, and then gives us helpful feedback on our pieces. Padlet is a great way to communicate among all of us, especially since we can all see what each other has done and also see Elaine’s feedback. I’m already signed up for 2 more classes - can’t wait!

This was a wonderful course by Elaine and I've learned so much! Elaine's classes give enough time to go practice what you have learned. It's great to get personal feedback to grow in your own art. I would highly recommend you take a class with her!

I enjoyed Elaine`s texture techinques zoom workshop a lot. Elaine is a very professional teacher and with the help of the teaching material it was good to practice the techniques independently at home. In addition, you could send paintings to Elaine for comment via padlet as often as you wanted. One had also opportunity to watch the videos for a month after the course and submit paintings for comment. I am looking forward to the next Elaine`s course.

It was more than I expected and fabulous to be so interactive and hands on even over Zoom! Loved the challenges and extra homework opportunities if we wanted it. Really appreciate the insight into how you work - I feel my work getting better as a result of these Appropriate Composition sessions.

Just a note to tell you how much I enjoyed the Depth of Winter class this week. I looked forward to it for so long and somehow it’s over so quickly but as the 'board' is still up and running I feel like it’s all ongoing. Makes the whole class more interactive, and this class certainly was! You are a wonderful and patient teacher. You made everyone feel as they could do no wrong, just a gentle nudge in a positive direction. That’s priceless, isn’t it? It was a pleasure to meet you.
