I was one of the first instructors to offer online courses in Botanical Art. Short courses were launched in 2018, more were added in 2020/21. Feedback has been so encouraging... but to make way for new courses they will be retired at the end of 2022.

How will you enjoy creating botanical art if you struggle and feel out of your depth?
A solid foundation of materials knowledge, basic brush handling skills and confidence across a variety of watercolour techniques is essential. Understanding the basics of colour mixing is also vital. Going it alone can be so frustrating.
The key to confidence is practice. Little and often. Relax into this in your own home without the pressure of the classroom.

Delving deeper
There are several topics which explain concepts behind the art or are themed to subjects people tell me they always find challenging. These are perfect for advanced beginners or intermediates.
Leafy Character
Concentrate on how leaves appear when GROUPED. Using groups of 3-5 leaves we explore subjects such as 'Seasonal colour' 'Texture' 'Veins' and 'Creating Depth'
4 'Step-by-Step' projects cover Smooth, Hairy, Colour-change and Leathery leaves.

Center Focus
Learn to capture the unique character of flower centers. Multiple stamens, lobed stigmas of differing kinds...not all centers are the same. Different painting strategies are required to make them look realistic.
