Gain confidence depicting the centers of flowers
The visible reproductive parts of a flower present a challenge to the botanical artist.
Multiple stamens, lobed stigmas of differing kinds...not all centers are the same. Different painting strategies are required to make them look realistic.
Let me guide you through my process for tackling flower centers with step-by-step video instruction.
It covers

How is the course delivered?
The course web site contains many short streamed videos to explain concepts and demonstrate techniques.
Exercises encourage you to try out, practice and develop your skills.
You will see examples of drawn and painted flower centers presented as step-by-step scans which I call ‘build-ups’ so that you can study my process.
Although encouraged to use your own live specimens, I supply correctly lit high-resolution specimen photographs along with outline drawings for you to use.
During periods of travel restriction obtaining live material is not easy. Reference photos also help to overcome issues of seasonality and working in different climatic zones.
How much time will I need?
IT IS TOTALLY SELF-PACED
From the start date of the course you will have 6 months online access.
Learning the essential techniques, consolidating them with exercises and producing your center paintings will take everyone a different amount of time. It depends on your starting level and the amount of time you are able to set aside for study and practice.
